Your Head Might Explode

Precious Doggy

Sometimes Joe does the cutest things. So cute that I think my head is going to explode. So cute I have the desire to eat his entire head, starting with that soft, delicate ear. In this photo he has placed his head on my sweater, which I anthropomorphically interpret as him missing or loving me. Isn’t it just so freaking adorable???

Dog Celebrity

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

I just took one of those goofy quizzes where you find out what celebrity your dog would be. As it turns out Joe would be George Clooney.

What celebrity would your pet be? I'm George Clooney! Find out at Dogster.com

Why do they always make these things so damn ugly?

Sammy Burial IV Race Time Three Dogs Tuckered Tocks
We went to the dog beach again yesterday. Leigh and Sammy (Joe’s girlfriend) joined us. Joe didn’t run around as much as he did last time, but I think we all still had fun. Steve buried Sammy in the sand - she just sat there and let him do it like a good little doggy. Here’s the entire photo set.

Warm, in San Francisco?

Steve, Me, Jordy Dirty dog
Saturday, well actually the last three days, were extremely and uncharacteristically warm here in San Francisco. We were going to ride the motorcycles with our friend, Jordy, but Steve’s bike wouldn’t start. After failing to get the bike running (I won’t go into details here), we decided that a trip to the park or beach would suffice.

I half expected it to still be a little chilly at the ocean, but it wasn’t. The day was truly a warm one. We went to Fort Funston, a beach that allows dogs. The parking lot was full and we had a long walk to the beach itself, which was probably about 100 feet down a sandy cliff.

As soon as we reached the bottom Joe took off running after all the dogs. It was like dog heaven, there were so many running around, splashing in the water, chasing each other. And Joe was running! Yes, actually running (this is also extremely rare)!

We settled down and hung out for a while. Surprisingly Joe just did whatever we did. If we were up and moving, he was running, if we sat on the blanket, he was laying next to it. After a while he made friends with a chocolate lab that kept him chasing after her. Joe is sitting in most of the pictures because I failed to take the camera out soon enough. But you can see how dirty he got while having tons of fun. (Here’s the photoset)

When we were all done we had to hike back up that cliff, which was not easy. You can kind of see it in the background of this picture (I added a note). Joe was so tired from it all that when he reached the top he laid down to rest for a while, but we kept moving. He went about 10 more feet then laid down again. He was so pooped! What a fun day :)

Jolly Green Munchkin

How do you like it? The Jolly Green Munchkin… Toupee Joe… Cabbage Hitler… Or a very well behaved dog that lets me take pictures of him with cabbage on his head.

Cowboy Joe

I have never done this to my dog before. I always thought it was stupid and silly. But then I saw a flyer for a pet parade in our neighborhood and thought it might be fun to participate, and costumes were required. So I shopped for one online and today we went over to the parade. I now see why people do this. The moment I had Joe dressed up as a cowboy I was laughing my ass off. It’s nothing but hilarity. It’s so freaking funny when it’s your own dog looking like a goof ball. If you have a pet, I highly recommend you try this at least once. And the parade was a blast too, seeing all the dogs, and a hamster and a lizard, all dressed up. What a riot. Tons of fun. Check out all the photos here.

Olly
For the last two weeks my co-worker, Kelly, has been bringing his chihuahua puppy, Oliver, to work. So everyday after lunch I’ve been getting delicious puppy lovins for desert. So yummy!

JoeBun

We are approaching the fall season and, of course, Joe encounters a skunk. It happened last night right before bed. I was brushing my teeth when I heard him make his alert, what-the-fuck-are-you-doing-in-my-yard, bark. And I just knew it. I ran to the door and he was already trying to rub it off in the grass. I saw the little bastard skunk too, zig-zagging through the garden on his way to the back and under the shed.

I’m an adamant animal lover, but last night I wanted to strangle that skunk. We put Joe in the garage for the night, as usual, and dealt with his peroxide/baking soda bath this morning. I don’t think the skunk got him too badly, or I bathed him well, because he doesn’t smell too much right now. But you can still tell when you get close to him.

So this makes it: Oct 2004, Sep 2005, Oct 2006 and now August 2007. I sure hope I’m not linking to this post next year. I probably won’t since we’re moving in the next month or so and he won’t be wandering free in the yard. *sigh*

Chopstick Joe

Chopstick Joe
Every now and then we share our food with the doggy. He’s very delicate when he takes it. So delicate in fact, that he eats rice from chopsticks :)
