Found Jewelry

Monday, August 31st, 2009

A couple months ago I was contacted by a woman in Ohio about a necklace. She found it on her father’s dresser. He had passed away and never gave the necklace to her — at least she assumed it was for her because it was just her style.

The necklace still had its tag which read “Danikk Design”. When she searched for the name she found my site and sent me a message explaining how she came to contact me. As it turns out, she owns a gallery in Tremont, Ohio and she wanted to show some of my jewelry.

Luckily I still had a few pieces sitting around. So if you find yourself in Tremont stop in the Geode Gallery and check out my stuff!

Here are a few examples: Diamond, Graceful and Stepped. All the pieces are made, or rearranged, from found jewelry.

It’s Drawing Day!

As promised I’ll be drawing live to participate in Drawing Day 08. Take a look over at Ustream. I’ll also record it, so you can still find the video later at this same link.

Here’s more about Drawing Day.

Watch Me Draw

Don’t forget that this Saturday is Drawing Day 08! I plan on setting up a live Ustream video of whatever I end up drawing. So start checking my site for link around 1:00pm PST if you’re interested or bored. And if you’re really interested, feel free to make some suggestions or requests on what I should draw.

Drawing Day 2008

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Drawing Day 2008 Apparently June 7, 2008 is the first annual Drawing Day. The goal is to promote drawing for the sake of art and get 1 million drawings together on that day. I’m going to participate and I think you should too, whether you draw or not :)

Finally, a Portfolio Update

M&I Bear M&I Panel
I recently did some freelance work for M&I Bank in Milwaukee. Every year they put up a big holiday display with huge stuffed animals, and they always send out invitations for the opening night. The invites are geared towards children, which is how they found my profile on the iSpot. They wanted the art to be colorful, bright and whimsical. And there was a super tight deadline. Unfortunately this happened while we were moving, so on top of the stress our landlord caused, I was also stressed out about this project. In any case, the illustrations turned out well. M&I was very happy with my work. They’ll be sending samples of the invites soon.

Mailinator
I’ve also been working on a couple of site designs for OutScheme, one of which is live now. I redesigned Mailinator’s logo along with the look and feel of the site. The other site isn’t out yet.
